So the Boston Web 2.0 dinner has come and gone, and from my perspective it was a big success. We started at six last night and went well later than our planned stop. I split around 10:30 but the festivities were still going strong.
We had close to one hundred people cramming in the second floor of the Rattlesnake Bar & Grille. The beauty was in the diversity of the crowd - between the passionate gang from MIT, representatives from local startups to some of the most prominent voices of of the web today.
I have to thank the folks who came out. I also have to thank EMC, who sees the online world as a strategic imperative for success. We see the emergence of social networking as an opportunity to open up new conversations with new audiences, and to open up whole new areas of collaboration... In other words, we see it as a real game changer. I look at events such as last nights as a golden opportunity to learn from each another, to share ideas, and help broaden our collective knowledge of this complex and evolving world. We managed to pull together a great crowd and I'd like to thank each and every one of you for you thoughts and insight.
Thanks of course to Jeremiah for seeding the idea and helping pull together such a cool crowd. I think I speak for the entire community when I wish you the best in your new endeavors @ Forrester. Thanks also to Mark Twomey for making the trek all the way from Ireland. I'd originally thought it was just so he could taste our authentic New England Guinness, but it turns out he was truly there for the event. Lastly, I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Jennifer and Linda from EMC. While it's easy to come up with the 'big idea', these ladies made it all happen... Thanks!

Given the success of the evening, this is but a first. Stay tuned for Rattlesnake II - Coming soon to a Bar & Grille near you... Perhaps next time we'll reserve the roof deck as well so we can double the crowd!
