Twelve years ago (OK, maybe fifteen), it was all about the <Blink> tag to bat your message home. Overused? Heck yeah. In fact, the bane of my existence for many years.
As the digital world evolves, so do the capabilities for effective information delivery. The audience of today is busier than ever, and needs to consume information on their terms, not ours.
In poking around our digital universe last night, it struck me just how much these videos are being consumed... And that's not just the highly polished stuff, it's also the low production but high-value content videos. As a result, I wanted to share some of these videos and also point out a couple of key channels you may want to keep an eye on...
Oggie (above) joins Ponch (Erik Estrada) and PGA Pro Billy Andrade as the latest celebrity to help promote EMC's 20% Guarantee. With over 5 million views collectively and across channels, these videos are going a long way to not only promote the guarantee, but also introduce the EMC brand to new audiences.
If you follow EMC and haven't already, consider subscribing to the EMC and PointBB YouTube channels. Each contains a wealth of relevant content, including a pile of 'chalk talk' videos such as the one below. These are relatively low production videos, meaning that the individual used a Flip cam or similar to capture a simple yet high-value discussion in front of a white-board.
In the above video, Chad Sakac talks about IP Storage-iSCSI, NFS, and Fibre Channel. Much more engaging than the traditional white-paper or similar, and usually requires far less time to create and get to the audience.
So no shortage of interesting things happening with regards to our evolution in rich media. We're exploring new channels, and evolving old ones in the interest of getting information into the right hands, at the right time, and on the audiences' terms.
